Here it is on Sunday evening, about 10:00 or so. Guess what I did
today? Fixed the rv toilet, what fun. I knew before we left
that the shutoff valve didn't shut off 100%. When the water
pressure was up, it leaked slightly into the bowl. On top of
that, the slide valve in the bottom of the bowl leaked slightly.
We hadn't used it that much, but by Thursday afternoon it was almost
full. I dumped the tanks at a Flying J in Wyoming on
Thursday. Yesterday, (Saturday) we stopped at an rv dealer and
bought the parts to stop the leaky valve, and the slide valve in the
bottom of the bowl. I wanted to fix both of those before the
seminars started, figuring that I would not have time during the
week. What a job. Took a couple of hours, but it doesn't
leak any more. You know how it is, by the time you're done,
you know what you should have when you started. After that, we
took a walk and talked to a couple of other rver's. This
afternoon at 4:00 there was an informal welcoming session.
Gaylord Maxwell gave a short speech, introduced the seminar teachers,
and several others who had a hand in organizing the event. After
all the introductions there was a local "old time fiddle players" group
that played for about an hour. Was interesting watching and
listening to them play. Afterwords, we came back to the motor
home and ate supper. From 6:30 - 8:30 there was an "open
house". Some of the rver's would allow others to come in, look at
their rigs, and talk about their experiences. Saw a couple of
nice rv's and rv tow rigs. Looked at a bus conversion in
progress, which was very nice and very functional. It would not
work for everyone, but it works for them, and that is what is
important. The owners were very entertaining with their stories
of where they've been and some of their experiences on the road.
They've been full timing for about 5 years or so. In his words,
in the beginning, they made every mistake that could possibly be
made. If their was a way to do it wrong - they did it. Life
is an interesting teacher. One thing I've learned over the past
couple of years is - there is no one way to rv. Everybody expects
something different from their experience. What works for one
won't necessarily work for another. Life is like that. Well
that is about a wrap for this evening. Got to get up early
tomorrow and get ready to go to school. And I thought I was done
when I graduated high school............
