Woke up today to a temp of about 57 degrees this morning. Wound
up with a high temp of about 75 or so again. Definitely not what
I would have thought of when I think of California. We are still
with George and his wife Carole. Wonderful hosts, I might
add. Today I worked on a couple of computers that he has here,
and tomorrow he has another machine that needs some attention.
Will try to finish that up and then maybe we can do some
sightseeing. George had to go to town today, so we went along to
look around a little, and get a few groceries that we needed.
George has a wonderful setup of solar system electric, batteries,
inverter, etc., to produce enough electric to run his entire
household. Interesting thing with water though, He has a
couple of solar panels that power a 12v pump for a well, which pumps
water uphill to a tank, and then flows gravity fed downhill to the
house. With the water tank uphill far enough, and a large enough
pipe, the water pressure is sufficient to not need a pump to provide
pressure for the house. Cool.... Anyway, this house and
property is a work of art. Some thinking outside of the box
produced some great results, with all the comforts of home.
Believe it or not, there are a couple of wood stoves here that are put
to use on a fairly regular basis. Who'd a thought you would need
a wood stove in California. Anyway, we'll have to look at some
information to figure out where we are going next. Still working
on the pictures. Thought I would get them up today, but it
doesn't look like it will happen. Maybe tomorrow. George
was kind enough to take us out for supper tonight at a local
restaurant. You need to understand that local is about twenty
minutes away. Around here, that is local. This area is not
overpopulated with civilization. I must say, that when I used to
think of California, this doesn't fit what I used to think of. Oh
well, live and learn. Well, must work on more of my pictures to
get ready to post. Later........
