"Doing things Differently"

8-1-04

Sunday night at 8:36 and we found ourselves a place to park along I 70 in the eastern part of  Colorado. We are next to a small town named Limon, in a Denny's parking lot.  A little out of level, but that's not the first time.  Temps for the day were about 65 this morning and about 95 this afternoon.  We left Wal Mart this morning, drove north on I 25 to Denver and gassed up at a Flying J, emptied the tanks, got some fresh water, and filled the propane tank.  The guy that filled the tank, overfilled it, so I stopped a few miles down the road and drained some out so that it was no longer overfilled.  Flying J really did not have the room for rv's at that particular establishment, so we decided to move on.  We noticed while driving north on I 25 that to the east of the interstate, the view was mainly flat - plains type landscape, and west of I 25 it was mainly mountainous, at least, as far as we could see, which was quite a distance.  Looking at the map shows pretty much the same thing, that the western end is mainly mountainous.  So far the eastern end of Colorado has been like much of the west we have been in - very sparsely populated, and driving to a town that has major chain stores is a trip - literally.   No wonder the speed limit is 75 here.  Haven't seen as much farming as I thought I would.  Most of northern New Mexico, and Colorado has been used for some cattle grazing - although the majority of what we've seen - doesn't look like it's used for anything.   Maybe it's just the time of year that we're going through, and would be different in the spring or fall.  I also didn't take all that many pictures today, so I think I will wait to upload them until later.  Hope you enjoyed the ones that have been uploaded already.  By the looks of it, the next couple of days will be more of the same, scenery wise.  Time will tell.  Think I am going to end for tonight, and get ready for bed.  See ya later...
