"Doing things Differently"

8-6-04

This mornings temp was about 58 degrees in the Flying J we woke up in.  Highs today were about 80 degrees.  It was quite comfortable.  We drove through St. Louis, Missouri this morning.  Most times if you can hit these cities during times of the day that is not rush hour, it doesn't seem to bad drive through.  Traffic was not too bad.  We took route 270 around the northern part of the city.  We saw the arch from a couple of miles distant.  Looks big even from there.  Turned north on I 55 headed toward Springfield.  While driving along, we saw an advertisement for a bunch of antique cars.  A couple of exits later we found it and decided to spend the $2.00 to get in. We parked the motor home and walked around outside  for a while.  Took a few pictures that may bring back some memories for some people.  They had the good stuff inside a couple of buildings.  They had some really nice cars in there.  Nice prices, too.  This outfit was not "Ollies", good stuff cheap.  They had an early model Corvair there, that had rust holes in the top of the front fender, and they still wanted $3,800 for, and last year at the Hershey antique car show, I could have bought a restored one for $4,200.  They even had a couple of 57 Chevy's. If you like old cars, they had several trips down memory lane.  Not cheap trips if you were looking to buy.  We left there and found a Wal Mart to pick up a couple of groceries.  After heading back out on I 55, we stopped at a Love's fuel stop to get gas and take a break.  We left there, and found a place to stay the night - another Wal Mart.  This time, a supercenter in a town called, you guessed it - Normal, Ill.  Haven't told Chuck yet - don't know if he will know it before he reads this or not, but we are here.  Maybe we'll run up pike a little to an rv dealer a few miles away, just to look at a few rv's.  Who knows.  Even though we are only a day or two away from home, we don't plan to be home before the middle of next week.  I just finished resizing the pictures I took and am uploading them even as I write this.  Hope to post the links after they're done.  Look for 13th and 14 set of pictures.  And thats the way it is - Friday, August 6th, 2004.  Later.....
