"Doing things Differently"

WT-1 speaks

(For those of you who don't know, WT-1 is the nickname of the motor home, given at purchase time, by Chuck)

Hi folks, WT-1 here.  I was born  in July of 1983, in Riverside, California.  My memory is somewhat fuzzy about all the details (you know, an age thing),  but I believe I spent most of my life in California.  I took some trips here and there, but always came home to sunny, Ca.  It seems a couple of years ago, a former owner, happily took me on a trip.  I took him for a job interview in Illinois.  However while I was there, my former owner sold me to another.  I was then driven from Illinois to cold, hot and humid Pa.  My new owners cleaned me up, replaced my aging refrigerator with a new one, changed my oil and filter, replaced my spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filters, and just generally gave me the once over.  After taking a few short trips, I was given more new parts.  I was thrilled.  My pantry was reworked to hold more food.  I got 2 new front tires, almost all systems checked and rechecked.  I even got my toilet fixed - I don't leak water anymore.  Then we left on a new trip.  I didn't know where I was going, but it was great to get back on the highway again, getting some asphalt under my tires.  I love driving down the road, getting my oil checked, my windshield washed, even my radiator level checked.  And the gas, oh, it's great getting filled with gas on a regular basis.  Even though I am old - 21 years this month - ( does that mean I can drink now ), and yes, that is old for my species, I still enjoy a good run now and then.   You know, what they say about that "old dog - new tricks thing", it just ain't so.  I still enjoy putting some tailpipe dust behind me in the face of some of the younger "dogs" that just can't pull the hills like I can.  I'll show them a thing or two.  Of course, I still like running down the highway about 50 - 55 mph best, but I can go faster if I need to.  I just drink more (oil) by doing so.  Sorry, I just can't hold my liquid like I used to when I am pushed too hard - you know that age thing again.  Anyhow, I got to see states like, Penna., Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, and now Nevada.  I thought I was coming back home again to sunny California, but, alas, we have left that state, for another.  I suppose my permanent residence will never be California again.  Oh, well, as long as I can still kick asphalt in the faces of slower youngsters, it's worth it.  Going up hills and seeing them fade in the distance in my rear view mirrors, it just sends a thrill up my new tailpipes.  My generator still puts out 120 volts of electric and runs my overhead air conditioner, keeping my owners cool.  It's a great feeling to feel wanted again.  Well, anyway folks, I suppose I should turn in shortly, I need my beauty sleep you know, someone my age, takes longer to recuperate than it used to.  Anyhow, that's it for tonight.  Maybe I'll have the chance to talk to you later.
